PROVEN LEADER

As an independent thinker with strong business skills, I have a proven record of success in business and volunteer activities:

Presently, co-owner of Brandy Peak Distillery-For the past 13 years,

my husband & I have built our business, receiving recognition and awards for our products, and getting visitors from throughout the world.

District Supervisor for Hickory Farms- took a group of  stores that were losing money & inventory, and reversed that  trend  within a year.

Specific Plan Area Committee for the City of Encinitas-

I helped put together the vision for downtown, set goals & objectives,

directed  and reviewed all elements of the Specific Plan, and worked

with the public and planners to achieve these goals. This plan serves Encinitas today.

Member, Azalea Middle School Site Council - I organized and put together an All-District site council meeting for the three schools, a first since the site councils were created.

Utilizing leadership, people and management skills, as well as a good sense of humor, I will bring a fresh approach to the office of County Commissioner.

UNDERSTANDS THE ISSUES

Working and volunteering throughout Curry County has given me an understanding of the issues facing us today and in the future:

Stabilized Funding: One of the biggest challenges facing Curry County today is the loss of federal "O&C" dollars, or "county payments" in the near future. Whether this funding source will be fully funded for the next five years, phased out or cut off, the solution is only temporary. It will be important to work with many people at all levels inside government, as well as those outside to find permanent solutions.

Growth: "Growth Happens," as these last few years in our county have shown.  How growth is managed, understanding its costs and its impact on water, is key to maintaining our quality of life. It is important to have clear and consistent standards.

Economic Vitality: The viability of our communities depends on a diverse mix of families, individuals, and wage earners as well as retirees.  Issues such as living wage jobs, drugs, and affordable housing deeply affect having healthy communities.  Finding solutions will take creative thinking and people working together, with outreach to communities, government, businesses and individuals.
Renewable Natural Resources: Fishing and timber need to be supported and maintained at sustainable levels as a vital part of Curry County's economy.  Farming and agriculture are also important industries that have opportunities in the future growth of our communities.

WE can do it, with your help!

   Every vote counts!
I am asking for your vote so that we can work together to meet the challenges and utilize the opportunities for Curry County

With your help, I plan to reach out to as many people as possible. But it does take funding. An easy way for you to help out is with a small  contribution.

Please consider helping out with any amount possible. Our county needs strong and   innovative leadership. Please make checks payable to:
